About
My boss at CNN Interactive — Harry Motro — asked me an innocuous question in my interview that I realized much later was quite meaningful.
In one sentence: what drives you? What gets you out of bed in the morning?
I said: I like to make cool things.
What I think is cool has changed over time. I’ve become more driven by people and culture than technology. But the basic drive to make something new — something that delights its intended audience — is still the thing that jazzes me.
Thirty years in tech. Engineer first, product leader since. I’ve helped launch CNN.com, built programmatic advertising infrastructure at Turner, grown a fintech app to a million users, and spent the last few years deep in questions about the intersection of technology, culture, algorithms, and AI — and what we as technologists owe the people affected by what we build.
I’m based in Atlanta. I mentor product managers, advise on marketing and advertising technology, and spin dance music on the side.
